Pros

Benefits are good, remote work is great and likely will be permanent

Cons

I got laid off shortly after returning from parental leave. I was a high performer and contributed to major projects but none of it mattered, people were told “business decision / you are just a number”. The organization has been through org changes at least every 6 months in the past 3 years. Everyone is tired of the never ending “change” that just keeps making things worse. Most of the employees are checked out and would leave in a heartbeat. Why? Because the top leaders are toxic, decisions are made in a panic and for short term benefit only, there’s a lot of pressure on middle management and it cascades to working levels too. The company has been underperforming for a while but for whatever reason there has not been significant changes at EVP/SVP level. Hmm I wonder why things aren’t getting any better.

Pros

Benefits are great, Peers are great too. Office is nice inside and modern. The company has great values and does a lot in terms of working with the community.

Cons

Honestly, there's a lot of pressure from the top to hit targets that just don't feel realistic. It's been tough, turnover is super high, and people are constantly leaving, even at the manager and director level. We've seen so much leadership change in the past year, it’s hard to feel any stability. The Burnaby office location isn’t great either. There’s no nearby SkyTrain, so the commute can be a real hassle. The one director who actually felt engaged and supportive got let go right after most of his team finished training, which felt like a big blow. He was one of the few who actually seemed to understand what we were dealing with. They say weekends are voluntary, but there’s definitely pressure to work them. It doesn’t really feel like we have a choice, and that kind of expectation just adds to the burnout. Another challenge is support, when things escalate or complaints come in, there’s no local team to turn to. All customer service is overseas, and we have to call into a support line that doesn't always resolve the issue. It leaves us stuck trying to smooth things over without the right tools or help.
