Pros

Really no pros that I can think of.

Cons

If you get laid off then you are barred from being hired for any other job at TELUS for a period of 36 months even though the severance package will be much less than 36 months.

Pros

The Clinical Operations associates you work with outside of management are amazing, and the fact that you are helping patients who rely on our services is great.

Cons

When I joined this company, it was promoted as a healthy, supportive and ‘new’ work environment that takes care of patients as well as it’s employees. At first that seemed well, everything seemed nice, shifts were pretty regular and upon hiring I was told we would have to work 3 weekend shifts per quarter. Slowly things started falling downhill. Since the Telus acquisition in January, the lack of transparency from managers about changes has been abhorrent. Our weekend shifts have been increased from 3, to 5, to 7, to 9, and now we are expected to work unlimited amounts of weekends to fit the business needs. There was absolutely zero consultation with the team about this change, and even after excessive feedback we were told this is actually a ‘good thing’ by our senior associates. Your senior associate absolutely does not care about you, whatsoever. Anytime constructive feedback is offered about meaningful change that would help the employees, who currently are quitting en masse, have a better work environment with a good work life balance, they do nothing. Speaking of work life, 5-1-5 shifts are VERY common. They make their work weeks Sunday-Saturday so they can get away with this. Employees are burnt out, overworked and suffering a major mental health epidemic. All the while, TELUS promotes ‘mental health weeks’ while failing to apply that internally to its employees. Finally, other problems with the TELUS acquisition is that they are currently planning to remove our vacation days from 20 to 15, and change our sick days from 10 to 3 upon signing of our new employment contract EOY. This is not only poor business practice, it is also completely illegal per BC Labor Practices. Of course this feedback has fallen on deaf ears, which is unfortunate because this company used to be a lot better. In summary - stay far, far away if you value your time, and your mental health. There are far better companies which you can find with ease.
