Pros

Ralph Lauren, as a company, is a fantastic brand to work for. It attracts top talent which means that for the most part - your bosses and colleagues will be smart and enthusiastic people. When you step back, you realize that much of the organization's work that happens is world class - which can be exciting.

Cons

As many other reviewers have noted, the company is under going an intense period of change. Stefan is weeding out a lot of the management that served under the old guard - which is a good thing...but unfortunately not all that need to go are gone. In fact, many good employees with the strength to drive change were let go. Additionally, everything from processes to IT systems to ways of benchmarking the business are being redone which has caused tremendous confusion amongst the ranks (yes...even the most senior leaders that don't really understand the meaning of rising stars or cash cows).

Pros

- It is a prestigious name to have on resume - Good discounts

Cons

- Due to its large corporation structure, talent, merit and competence are often not valued. Internal politics dominate employee promotion, salary raises and treatment. - A lot of senior managers are more worried about their positions' / careers' security. Therefore they keep quite about harassment or other unprofessional behaviors. - Depending on department, employees are expected to do a lot of unpaid overtime without prior notice - Human Resources department is not proactive. A lot of serious issues get disregarded. There is also a lot of traffic in and out of the department. Many of HR people are new and are not knowledgeable on serious problems that may have been going on for a long time. - HR doesn't follow the confidentiality policy with employee feedback/ consultations. I witnessed first hand senior level managers sharing this type of info in groups.

Pros

Growing company. The well known and famous brand attracting employees. Good for people for whom it is important for the self esteem (or to pride themselves) to work for a worldwide fashion company. 2 staff sales events per year, a sample sales events and other smaller events during the year where you can have big discounts. A small gym inside the building. Very nice offices. Free coffee machines. Very good and cheap company restaurant. Surrounded by nature so I is good for break at mid-day. Close to the french border. Steady work place if you keep low profile and lf you adhere to the company's culture Top-down , obey and execute style of management which is good if you don't like to be asked to take initiatives. Environment that fosters Hard skills.

Cons

Control freak, suspicious atmosphere.: You will be subject to remarks, suspicion, or even subtle threats if you physically visit another department. Silos company: Department are spread in 5 floors. Few informal communication: each group stays between themselves. Speak up is not recommended and you should communicate by email to have proofs. You can only rely on few number of people and be discreet. No leadership: Top-down , obey and execute style of management. Management methods using fear is the rule. People reach management positions because of their seniority in the company and/or hard-skills competences and the majority do not have the skills to manage people. They do not receive training on this purpose. They do not accept, not interested in, and do not know how to deal with feedback or different styles of personalities. It is common that employees go to their desk, do not say hello to other employees they don't know, and sit without saying a word all day long. Work activities: Task oriented repetitive actives where you accept to keep low profile and accept to be used under your qualifications. No employees development programs. No (as far I as know) training budget for staff. Individualistic and competitive environment where teamwork behavior is not promoted: My manager secretly put me on competition with another colleague asking us to carried out the same task in order to compare us. 26 different information system. ( installing SAP starting July 2014). Which will lead to staff reduction.
