Inconsistent and shady

Pros

Depending on your manager, you could have a great level of flexibility and even career opportunities. They offer perks such as free therapy and private health insurance or gym subscription. Their company parties are great!

Cons

Very inconsistent company. Depending on which department you are at and most importantly who your manager is, you will be up for either great success or great failure. This is why Travelperk has SDRs becoming Chief Of Staff without any prior experience or qualifications, there’s a lot of favouritism and nepotism going on. Extremely extrovert biased leadership. They are constantly changing the org structure which leaves people falling between cracks in performance and salary reviews time after time. There’s a big lack of transparency, they withdraw benefits without letting their employees know and they purposely leave out that certain policies are changing (such as WFH) in the recruitment process. Due to this, the day to day is chaotic, the communication within and between teams is very challenging as there is a very individualistic way of work being promoted by the managers which are constantly either overworked and therefore not present, or too busy creating their own brand for C-level.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. We are very pleased that you enjoy the flexibility, career opportunities and many great events & perks that many TravelPerkers also enjoy. At the same time, we acknowledge the dissatisfaction that you have experienced personally. TravelPerk’s success has seen rapid growth in our team over the past year which has necessitated structural changes to ensure we have strong foundations for scale. We understand that change can be hard for our team, so we communicate openly with our whole team as much as possible and maintain multiple channels to ensure that our team feels heard at all times. Thank you again for your feedback. We can assure you that your comments will play a part in our continued commitment to making TravelPerk a place where people can be their best selves and do their best work.

Great Ethos, Great Team

Pros

Whilst it might seem hard to believe that there's so many 5 star reviews, just one day in the office will show you why. The staff and team are dedicated to what they're here to do and given the right tools in the right environment to get it done. That's not to say there aren't challenges to overcome - TravelPerk is a fast growing start up after all - but each challenge is met with agility and a willingness to make things a success. The ethos and company culture is well shared and understood and the stringent hiring process helps make sure each person is a great fit from all angles. Working at TravelPerk has been brilliant personally and professionally and I look forward to more milestones to come.

Cons

Start ups aren't for everyone, so if rolling up your sleeves and doing something that needs to be done, even if it's not something you'd usually do, isn't for you then you'd find this a con. For me, it's a chance to pull together and get the result to benefit both the company and our clients.

Pros

The facilities and office spaces are good, and the cafeteria staff are very friendly.

Cons

The environment is highly competitive. TravelPerk’s culture is based on appearances, creating a “7-star” image that doesn’t reflect reality. Software engineers are often evaluated more on what they document and communicate rather than on their technical execution, which affects the company’s product quality. I've seen highly talented colleagues put on PIPs or even dismissed for “underperformance,” based on totally subjective and biased opinions. The engineering career path is fundamentally flawed, where "communication" is rewarded over execution. As a result, we see impressive projections but poor execution. Due to the competitive atmosphere, it’s common to encounter colleagues who withhold information, work in silos, or even “betray” others. This is further emphasized in the famous “End of the Week” meetings, where a false sense of excellence is projected, with individuals showcasing an image of success that doesn’t bring any real benefit—financial or otherwise—to the company, as this success is merely a bluff. As with other aspects, at TravelPerk, diversity is merely superficial. There isn’t a truly multicultural environment, nor an inclusive age range—rather, it’s distinctly Anglo-Saxon and skewed towards younger individuals, with those who 'stand out' fitting a specific personality type. If your English skills are not fluent, you may be treated as a second-class citizen, missing promotion opportunities, or even being evaluated as low-performing and dismissed.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. At TravelPerk, we’re rooted in a dedication to first-principle thinking, valuing mindset and potential, and nurturing an environment of genuine connection and support. It’s concerning to hear that aspects of your experience didn’t align with these values. Our performance philosophy gives equal weight to what is delivered, and how it is delivered. Therefore, a balance of good communication and technical execution is essential for delivering a high-quality product. We recognize that feedback on communication can sometimes feel subjective, and we are committed to ensuring that our processes remain transparent and balanced to acknowledge different strengths. We are a team of individuals united by our mission to fix business travel, and we are deeply committed to ensuring that our people feel included and supported. As of today, we proudly have over 50 different nationalities represented within our team, with English as our main business language. Fluency in English is essential to effectively serve our global customers and facilitate internal communication and collaboration. To support this, we also offer IRL English lessons for our Barcelona-based employees. At TravelPerk, we aim to create a workplace where everyone belongs, not just fits in, and can do their best work. This commitment is central to our Belonging philosophy, which focuses on fostering a work environment where everyone feels they truly belong. Your insights help us continue improving to ensure that TravelPerk remains a place where people can thrive, feel connected, and make a meaningful impact. Thank you again for your contributions, and we wish you all the best in your future endeavors.
