Pros

Amazing coworkers I started pre-2024 so fully remote (optional)

Cons

UM take no responsibility and have no forethought except for how much money to spend on seeing each other Targets are changed too frequently and are often unrelated to your current work. The pressure that we’re under has led to a poorer work life balance and lots of micromanagement. There is a growing culture of backstabbing which, combined with favouritism that was never subtle but is now something the company is open about internally, has led to the QoL working here to seriously diminish. AI-obsessed UM makes it obvious that cost cutting is prioritised over human input or relationships. Many staff signed off, many feel forced out, many only staying because they need to pay rent.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Responsible use of AI is a priority for us, but we’re very clear that AI enhances and supports our work, never replaces human input. We set ambitious goals to support personal and company growth, and these expectations reflect the pace and scale of our work. We continue to review how we support teams as we grow and evolve.

Pros

Can work from home (although, to get rid of staff, they're now walking this back so.... no pros)

Cons

The CEO & Her husband The C-Suite in general The fact it's a predatory journal The fact that they burn out and gaslight their staff This company will not look after you or your professional growth. Don't walk. Run.

Pros

Great people, 100% remote work, enjoyed meeting scientists from around the world

Cons

Upper management is completely out of touch with day-to-day reality of employees. Unattainable goals and an ever-increasing reputation for spamming researchers will lead to the demise of this company.

Thank you for your thoughts. We agree, working with scientists from around the world is a particularly rewarding aspect of working at Frontiers. We know our targets are ambitious, but we have a successful track record of achieving them and often exceeding them. We have numerous mechanisms in place that facilitate a supportive work environment and two-way dialogue between team members and senior managers - we are sorry to hear you did not find these useful.
