Ruthless incompetence

Pros

- many committed and friendly employees who strive to do their best - it's a hybrid office allowing employees to chose whether to work from the office or remotely

Cons

- incompetent, manipulative and ruthless senior management - utter disregard for its employees' welfare - all about quantity not quality - Unhealthy drive for growth and narcissistic leadership incomplete contrast to company's motto 'healthy lives for a healthy planet'

Thank you for taking the time to provide a review. We are very surprised to read your comment about quality. As one of our core values this is our top priority and we communicate around this at every opportunity. In 2024 we launched our Research Integrity hub which provides a detailed overview of how quality is built into everything we do and ran numerous internal and external campaigns showcasing our teams, tools and innovations. Quality is not something we compromise on, so please discuss your concerns with your manager or People Business Partner.

Pros

The people are amazing. Pay is ok but no pay reviews or bonuses for 2 years Remote working Benefits are ok

Cons

Outdated 40 hour working week meaning flexible working is impossible. No strategy, or forward planning. Reckless decision making without thinking about consequences. Despite making 600 redundant and loosing an extra 200 on top, company is still unstable. Toxic positivity and no transparency Shameful upper management with non existent leadership skills Employees expected to clean up the mess made by incompetent managers. I would urge anyone considering applying for a position to turn and RUN!

Thanks for sharing your comments. Building a supportive and flexible work environment is very important for us. We operate a standard 40-hour working week, but within that we prioritize personal choice about how you manage time to ensure the right work-life balance for you. We work exceptionally hard on our strategy and involve all teams in the finalization and execution of it. And it has served us well, allowing us to climb the ranks and become of the top most impactful open access publishers today.

Pros

Great immediate team members and managers

Cons

This is my second review but I had to share this. Frontiers responded to my initial review with “As an organisation, we make data-based decisions and have an extensive understanding of our market.” During my time with Frontiers, I was extensively involved with data engineering and analysis and I saw certain promises that Frontiers made, specifically regarding employee incentives, as a cheap ploy to garner favour, when in reality, the data did not support any of their claims. I have since gone on to work in data analysis full time.
