Pros

People are generally worldly and interesting. You get a chance to solve genuinely interesting problems all over the world. If you are a regional specialist or globally minded you will thrive. There are parts of the business under exceptional leadership. Some parts needs serious strategic thinking applied to avoid self sabotage.

Cons

The pay is average and company needs to boost revenue to pay people more. As with any partnership there can be some who prioritise personal ambition over actually growing the business across service lines. Building little kingdoms doesn’t boost pay or bonuses.

Pros

People are lovely and it is a good company to start a career. Teams tend to be flexible with work-life balance

Cons

What is expected of you can be a lot. Some senior people are not that competent and drag down teams. Not much career progression after a few years and pay could be better given what is expected of employees. The company has been encountering some financial problems, which unfortunately feeds into all the problems mentioned above.

Don't Support Their Employees

Pros

They pay alright and their benefits are fine

Cons

They provide no support. Consistently say to reach out to your embedded firm which then directs you back to control risks. They encouraged me to pursue further education, saying they would help financially. Then, when I went to ask for reimbursement, they stalled saying they were "re-evaluating" their education benefits, until they laid me off.

Extremely low pay

Pros

Some projects are exciting, some people are nice

Cons

Will make you do work that is way out of your pay grade and overtime. Not even an ounce of appreciation for people who actually do the ground work. And financially struggling?

Pros

- good guys on the teams - it’s a job

Cons

- HR lie about current vacancies especially Annie Stacey and Katherina Santiago. This is why HR are constantly changing. - many get paid late and have to chase up payroll - offer projects to newcomers and leave experienced guys on current projects to rot and then when questioned HR lie about allocating positions to said employee’s. - if the face doesn’t fit you won’t get anywhere, they don’t like to be challenged on anything and if you do then your not going to go far, even if what your challenging goes against Control risks, values, standards and governance. - they forget the guys speak to eachother from different projects and locations within Iraq and Control risks as a whole. This is why the turnaround is so quick for positions due to good guys leaving as they can’t deal with poor values and standards of the chain of command. This is especially pertinent for BGC.
