Pros
Depending on your department you do have a degree of autonomy to do what you feel is necessary to improve your work. I have experienced a great work culture and a lot of support when working to improve ways of working. Personally I can't complain much, it's been a great place for me to work, learn and develop.
Cons
Systems not necessarily implemented with much business input so certain tasks can be a lot harder then they needed to be to complete. Substantial change can take a while to get through depending on who you have fighting your case.
