Pros

It's very dependent on the department, but my work-life balance was excellent and I could wfh most of the time with no questions asked. Most of my team with family abroad was able to work from their home countries for a while. The clients were interesting and the colleagues I met in the London office were very friendly and diverse, although it depends on the crowd/department you gravitate around.

Cons

Poor pay compared to market rates, minimal salary increases when they were handed out. No training or development opportunities/budget. Saw a few instances of nepotism at junior levels. HR was not able to keep matters confidential when involved in grievances which created huge issues at team level. Senior leadership is not diverse and internal career progression is extremely slow and unprofitable, especially if you start at band F.

Pros

Dynamic and global risk consultancy, service provider where you’re able to build an offering with fortune 500 companies all over the world. Incredibly smart and witty group of professionals.

Cons

Traditional consulting environment where personality means as much as numbers. Minimal structure, slow career progression & effort to innovate.

Pros

Good location to travel to for work with lots of choices to have lunch. Impressive views of London river views The main building staff are welcoming and friendly Free teas & fruit daily in the office Bar area drinks on Thursday Lots of meeting rooms Standard Benefits (no travel allowance)

Cons

The office environment is old fashioned and needs a full refurb. Team members seem afraid to speak up on issues in meetings. Managers have old fashion 'micro-managing' attitudes toward project coordinators - Dictating where they sit and constantly checking up on what they are working on. 'Dignity at Work' is not practiced by management and is a great concern. Company inductions took a back seat and forced to focus on job roles, rather than learning more about the company. The role was advertised as project management coordinator, when in fact it's rather an admin role. (setting up projects on the system and invoicing only). High staff turnover. There are some project coordinators who sneak report back to management if you made an error or simply need help (be careful) HR doesn't practice 'GDPR', especially when sending emails containing personal information. WFH has monitored conditions, so not flexible as portrayed. Consultants make a lot of repetitive errors, but you are expected not to make any mistakes when you are new. Poor desk set-up, old pc monitors, and bad seating Training is bad and not consistent among coordinators and no training material to refer back to. Lack of diversity from senior levels upwards, and hard in career progression Limited Company Benefits compared to others.

Pros

People are lovely and it is a good company to start a career. Teams tend to be flexible with work-life balance

Cons

What is expected of you can be a lot. Some senior people are not that competent and drag down teams. Not much career progression after a few years and pay could be better given what is expected of employees. The company has been encountering some financial problems, which unfortunately feeds into all the problems mentioned above.

Pros

Really interesting work. Lots of good people around. In some roles, room for flexible development and initiative.

Cons

Company in some ways a leader in political risk (decades in industry, analysts over the world), but political risk team seems to be lowest priority in the business. As a consulting firm, workloads can be crazy. From my time there, it looked like career progression at higher levels was about sales and internal positioning. limited prospects if you're focused on delivery quality/performance.
