Pros

1. Work-Life Balance: Avangrid maintains a good work-life balance for its employees. 2. Fair Salaries: The company offers fair salaries, merit and bonus to its employees. 3. Good Benefits: Avangrid provides employees with good benefits, which include healthcare, retirement plans, and other perks. 4. Excellent team

Cons

1. Cultural Shift: Since the change in Avangrid CEO and CHRO leadership, there has been a noticeable shift in the company culture. The previous emphasis on people and talent recognition has diminished, leading to feelings of disconnection and demotivation among employees. 2. Decrease in Morale: Many employees are experiencing feelings of being lost, unmotivated, and stressed. This has led to a decline in morale and job satisfaction, contributing to a sense of dissatisfaction among the workforce especially in the last year. 3. Fear of Mistakes: The CEO's proclamation in meetings that there is no room for mistakes creates a culture of fear among employees. This fear of bringing errors to upper management leads employees to hide mistakes rather than address them, hindering transparency and growth. 4. Micromanagement: The CEO's tendency to micromanage the business has a detrimental impact on the company culture. It undermines trust and autonomy among employees, stifles creativity and innovation, and fosters a sense of frustration and disengagement.

Awful CEO and HR

Business Outlook

Pros

Industry is really great, lots of opportunities.

Cons

CEO is extremely disrespectful, doesn’t listen to anyone and makes one mistake after another. Too focused on the short term (result at all costs), has no clue about where the company/industry is going. Doesn’t empower nor trust, all he does is to micromanage. He disrespects leadership that reports to him. Multiple people that reports to him or close to him left the company (CFO, controller, investors relations, etc). He’s slowly breaking all company’s processes, he changes everything all the time and result is that no one knows anymore who does what and who’s responsible for what. HR is fundamentally broken, CHRO doesn’t talk to anyone, doesn’t listen and doesn’t like people. Everybody in the company hates everything HR does. There is no strategy, everything is a mess, processes are broken, nothing is planned and everything is urgent and poorly done. Extremely siloed, leadership in HR doesn’t understands the business nor think that they work for the business. People in HR are frustrated with HR.

Pros

Benefits, rapidly growing field of work, making a difference in the world, best coworkers ever.

Cons

Avangrid Renewables is a great company that is chock-full of some of the best business people I have ever had the privilege to know. However, the parent company, Iberdrola, has a heavy-handed and outdated management style that tragically conflicts with the values of its best workers. Even our own senior management is constantly micromanaged and overwhelmed with pet projects and statistical reports that have little to no long-term impact on actual production but help the parent company to gain recognition. Meanwhile, they set huge goals for growth while also making significant budget cuts year after year. How do they keep maintaining this “do more with less” initiative? By just piling more and more work on less and less workers! In short, plan to be told how lucky you are to work for this company while they take everything they can from you, completely burn you out, then not replace you when you inevitably realize that it’s not worth the impact to you and your family and quit. I know it sounds harsh, but it’s true. Just ask all of the long-term, highly experienced employees that have left the company recently.
