Octopus Energy Senior Software Developer interview questions

A mainly technical interview process but with a laidback approach. This definitely helps to make you feel relaxed and to be yourself throughout. I liked the format of doing the take home technical test first followed by 2 1-hour interviews.

The interview was broken into multiple stages: 1. review of the CV followed up by a call with the internal recruiter to understand your situation and tell you more about the role and company, basically making sure the role was right for you 2. assignment of a take away technical test which was based on a typical API service scenario to help you showcase your back end engineering skills 3. 1 hour interview with senior engineers discussing your past experiences and some general SDLC and ways of working questions (this was really chilled) 4. 1 hour whiteboard session demonstrating your thought process on a engineering problem (brief scenario document handed out prior to reduce stress). Again very chilled, the lead and senior engineers weren't out trip you up and were very friendly 5. Call with recruiter to discuss potential offer, then offer made Overall the interview process was really well organised, relaxed and I would say took about 3-4 week in total from applying but I applied around 20th Dec so there was Christmas break.
