The interview process I went through involved an initial talk with an agency, then a face to face interview, then two online tests.
The agency involved was absolutely wonderful by being extremely helpful and easy to talk to. They provided information about the company and advice on how to succeed at interview, which I took on-board.
The interview itself was fantastic. The two members of Octopus Energy who interviewed me were both very welcoming and were interested in what I had to say. They were also very informative, ambitious and relaxed, which appealed to me as a recent graduate. We were able to have a general conversation in a relaxed environment for an hour or so which was great. I would have happily had a chat for longer.
I received an offer for the Graduate Energy Specialist role after this process. However, I was then diagnosed with anxiety, and through the process after interview understood that the role was not for me. Throughout the entire process after the job offer, Octopus were extremely helpful and understanding, which really stood out to me as other companies would not have been nearly as understanding about mental health issues and the different decisions I was making. The member of staff I was discussing the issues with was extremely empathetic and really tried to offer me everything that they could to make the process easier for me.
Overall, I would highly recommend Octopus as a company. I could tell just by meeting the employees that I did that they are a very fun, optimistic and understanding company. They're also going to be extremely successful in the future, because they’re incredibly ambitious and really want to make a difference in the energy sector by helping customers. Alongside this, the way they acted after I'd told them about my mental health was exceptional. Anyone who wants to work for a company with a fantastic mentality about mental health, and understanding employees- go for these guys.
