If you are able to put up with corporate bureaucracy 24/7, this is the job for you!
Pros
The people you work with are amazing people and will definitely help you out when you get stuck with problems. Most people have a significant training budget and there are a lot of opportunities to advance, but only if your manager likes you. Lots of vacation time as well as personal days. Benefits package is pretty decent, although our salaries are below the average. Community volunteering is well ingrained throughout the company. You can get $1000 to donate to charity if your team volunteers for 200 hours (total). Discount on phone services and internet services is extremely nice. Unfortunately no discount on transit passes.
Cons
Direct and Senior Management is absent. No direction in the company. Takes too long to get anything done. Way too much bureaucracy. Trying to get cooperation between business units is next to impossible due to competing objectives and strategies. We're still using CDMA when we should have already switched to GSM technology, yet it will take us years to actually decide and by then it will be too late. Performance evaluation system is a joke - everyone knows how to exploit it in order to make favourites get the highest rating, even though they may be the worst performers. Executive Leadership is in "harvest mode".
