Pros

It was a comfortable office job, solid starting wage, and well-positioned incremental pay increases. Lots of potential to move up the ladder, if you followed their rules. Loved the culture and the people I worked with, made lots of fantastic friends, great hours. They were receptive and understanding when I needed to pursue another career.

Cons

Ridiculous micro-management. There was constantly someone looking over your shoulder, making sure you were doing everything properly. When you treat employees like children, they either will act accordingly, or they will resent the management for not treating them like adults with responsibility.

Pros

Competitive salary Great benefits Great training and learning opportunities

Cons

A very tough corporate environment to grow within. Lack of opportunities to move upwards. The revolving door is continuous, as there is quite a lot of employee remorse due to lack of opportunities for upward career advancement. Some co-workers were great. Others were back-stabbers who were very self centred and would do anything negative to get management recognition, even at the expense of their own fellow co-workers. Management was guilty of openly showing favouritism to employees they cared more about. Career advancement here solely depends on your manager's approval. If they didn't like or approve of your work, you're stuck wherever you are for the longest time ever, even if you requested to move to another team in a similar role. They would pretend they were satisfied with your work, but would ever recommend you for a promotion. Overall, it's a great place to start off, experience wise, but in terms of building a career, you're in for a very tough challenge ahead.

Pros

Working from home helps us balance work and life activities; one ends up being more productive in both worlds. Very tolerant environment to visible minorities and others.

Cons

Pay has become substandard. Top performers in our team haven't had a raise in years, not even for increased cost of living / inflation. No wonder, when we have 1/3 of he company in the third world countries. Promotions are based on who you know, not what you know.
