Pros

free cereals, uses macbook, birthday leave, harbour view

Cons

There is a reason why there is a lot of opening now in siteminder. This company treats employees like tools and replaces them indiscriminately regardless of your tenure. Do not be fooled by the bean bags and the play area like the pool table, people rarely uses them. And most of the time employees eat on their own due to low morale. Company is really close to being a sweatshop.

Very sorry to hear that your experience has been a negative one. May we ask what specifically are the aspects that make you feel this way? We absolutely are changing and are taking any feedback we can onboard in order to make sure that during our scaling, we don't lose sight of the priority, which is our people and so your feedback on this may go a long way to helping us pivot as needed. We are making conscious efforts to ensure we have a great place to work, we know we wont always get it right first time but in the areas we are not getting this right, we want to know abut it so we can do better.

Pros

Good pay and health benefits from the very first day!

Cons

Micro-managers who use intimidation and fear to manipulate unless you are part of their little group and kiss their rear. Leaders should never bully others and instead should develop, guide, capacitate, and enhance their employees’ strengths. Doesn’t matter if you do your best; they will always look for the smallest thing to complain to you about and belittle you. Effort is not appreciated and employees are undervalued. Suspicious, sketchy, weird vibe around the office. Key management personnel always on Skype chatting (most likely about irrelevant things outside of work) with other colleagues instead of doing their job of being helpful and approachable to their teams. You can see the annoyance/ anger on their face. Definitely people who have been frustrated with their lives and are unhappy which intoxicates the environment by making others feel guilty for any reason they may find on the 1 on 1 meetings. Lack of proper training. Don’t you dare asking for help: they will harshly let you know that they already did the onboarding and that they already spoke to you about the industry which makes them think their job is done. No ongoing support; they are there to sit down and wait for paychecks to come every two weeks. Showing initiative and asking questions in order to develop yourself will be seen as if you are incompetent at learning and that they made a mistake hiring you in the first place. Favoritism is huge here. The ones who advance are the ones who play “the game” management inflicts. Be ready to drop to the ground feeding everyone’s big egos. Everything looks superficially nice at first. It is just a matter of time until you realize how toxic this workplace is. High turnover at SiteMinder is due to high stress and employees burning out too quickly as it is impossible to be oneself.

Pros

I have been working with SiteMinder for 5+ years. I had a mixed journey in SiteMinder. I had a massive gain in knowledge and experience, but also didn't get roles to feed my passion and no one seem to care about it too(may be time to leave ;). --Young, dynamic fast paced environment. --Very friendly and approachable senior management. --Tons of very nice people. --Great Products. Market leaders. --Ambitious and aspiring company, has abundance potential to grow further. --Senior Management is aware of the areas of improvement, and they are continuously working to improve things. Some to mention, parental leave, work flexibility(work from home), wedding bonus, breakfast etc (these benefits were initially not available). --Friday Beers, daily breakfast fruits etc --Ping Pong, snooker, x-box, and other board games.

Cons

--High employee turn around. --Some middle-level managers act as a huge bureaucracy wall and are very shallow. --Very limited 'internal' career progression, many suitable roles offered to external candidates(especially in service delivery). --Very limited employee skill development. --Socialising on Friday drinks seems to be the primary tool for internal career progression!. Nepotism :( --Annual salary review is a joke(usually around 0.7% to max 2%) --Different business units are isolated. Example, very limited communication between product team and service delivery(though it has improved slightly in the recent time). --HR(people and culture) team's primary task is recruitment. Would be nice they also focus on HR related issues. Usually takes months to get answers, even on simple matters. Advice to Job Seeker: It's not Google, but it's definitely better than 90% of other companies. It's not perfect, but it's getting there. I strongly believe it will reach there soon.

You make some great points, thanks for sharing. I know there are plans afoot for a focus on communication and career development this year so I am hopeful this will help address some of your feedback. Thanks, Charlie
