Pros

A steady paycheck, that is all.

Cons

Prudential's mission is to "Lead the transformation of US Retirement;" however, the plan to do this involves offshoring as many US based jobs as possible. To counter the negative backlash of doing so, the company is making grandiose fanfare about hiring veterans for the few remaining jobs that will remain in the long term. To my fellow veterans, this is a warning that in order for the company to showcase veterans they will keep you down at the lowest levels without the chance of promotion indefinitely, ie until you quit and find a real job. So, if you are looking for a place for advancement / career opportunities, keep looking. Unfortunately, this is also true for all other employees as well, unless you have internal connections, in which case you will rise very quickly regardless of your actual skills. Again, this is a place of who you know, not what you know. I regret wasting the years I have had Prudential.

Pros

Bonuses were decent (not as good as IBD though)

Cons

Worst place I have ever worked. Very political. If they don't like you, they will try everything they can to set you up for failure. I was in the US Portfolio Management Group for Retirement (Asset Liability Management). Very odd group of people who you think are nice but are backstabbing and mean. You do everything and they show no appreciation whatsoever and only focus on the negatives. The first week I was there the secretary told me I didn't belong there because I was too happy of a person to be working there. People don't know how to manage, they just expect to give you the work and for you to be able to do with no direction or explanation whatsoever. I would never work there again no matter how much they paid me. You work like a slave and people show no appreciation at all.

Pros

Good benefits, challenging work, exposure to a broad set of products & services, lots of responsibility

Cons

Management from mid to senior levels offers a lot of lip service, differences of opinion based logic and facts are viewed as personal problems, environment is often hostile and highly political
