Pros

The benefits can’t be beat, at least in this industry! You have the ability to manage your own schedule once you learn the job. You can truly be in business for yourself, but not by yourself… unless you are in Omaha.

Cons

The local top leadership is HORRIBLE! The culture is suffocating, very clearly divisive, and definitely favors those that know only how to say yes to them. Investigations run amuck and the wrong people let go. Said many derogatory, racist and sexist remarks after interviewing candidates, and meetings with current employees, when they think nobody is in earshot! He is more interested in who they met online and who they have a date with on Friday night than ensuring that the firm is successful. However, when they feel the heat from their higher level bosses, they won’t hesitate to lead with 100% intimidation. Most, but definitely not all, of the local leadership team tries hard, but is visibly at a loss as to what to do given the circumstances going on with their self-absorbed leader. Stay away—at least from Omaha!!!

Awful treatment of disabled employees

Pros

- Respected name. - Great work/life benefits; good on site gyms in the Newark offices, commuter benefits, work from home policy (at least in my area). - Strong professional development benefits as well. - Senior management tend to be very nice and approachable (though obviously very busy, as they should be).

Cons

- Atrocious treatment of disabled employees: I was accused of faking my ADA protected disability and using it to get out of working by management; HR refused to do anything about the claims and disciplinary actions. - Lots of make-work. - Lots of lifers who've been with the company for 15+ years, who are basically immune to being fired; they sit around saying "that's not my job" to everything, then they high-tail it out the instant the clock hits 4:00. - Opaque, glacially slow processes for almost everything from hiring to promoting to IT security. - Outdated, cumbersome technology (IE8, Lotus Notes) that has a huge negative impact on productivity. - Rampant, transparent favoritism by managers. - Certain teams and departments exclusively hire young kids fresh out of college who haven't learned how to assert themselves in corporate and get pushed around by directors/VPs. - Newark can be sketchy; I'm a big guy but even so I occasionally feel nervous because weird types approach me sometimes.
