Pros

I think Octopus has really tried its hardest in recent months/years to improve salaries for staff as well as benefits. It promotes a great wellbeing culture and people here are more like close friends than colleagues.

Cons

I do think it can almost lean too much into the 'everyone deserves a second, third chance' and it hesitates when putting people on PIPs or letting them go when they are doing a really bad job and bringing down the rest of the team.

Pros

Great people work here Great perks including a car allowance and gym perks Great hybrid work ability, this is a big positive of working at OEV Can definitely learn a lot about customer operations so it is a good entry level job to learn how to work in a fast paced environment

Cons

The job role is confusing and stressful, all of customer operations seem to be unhappy and staying after work is often necessary to complete tasks. There is also a lot of difference in how teams are treated and this is because different team leaders lead their groups differently. This means that issues of annual leave and sick pay are often treated differently leading to a lot of workplace unhappiness as well as this is discussed in operations. Confusing progression, after you have become a senior you are unable to become a '1D' as there is no concrete guidelines or examples of how to get to this level, this is disheartening. Progression often takes a long time and you may be working on progressing to a different band for a 6 months to a year whilst already taking on the responsibility of this band. I would recommend working at OEV but I could not recommend the customer operations role

Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry to hear that you found the Customer Operations role stressful and confusing. We have recently launched our weekly key focus, so that team members know priorities that need to be worked on and we've seen some great improvements as a result. It's not unusual for progression within our bands to take up to 6 months as individuals can set their own pace for this - we do have defined guidelines for each band and these are readily available, so no-one should feel stuck at any level and can check on their process with their Team Lead or Manager. You're absolutely right that people should all be treated fairly and consistently, and we're working hard to ensure there is equity across the teams by conducting leadership training and having regular cross-team check-ins. Thank you for raising these points, I wish you success in your next venture and we will continue to communicate out and improve on the areas you have highlighted. Alys Peart Chief of Staff
