Pros

Many career paths, investments in technology and new processes show a corporate interest in staying relevant in the future, lots of underwriting talent throughout the organization. Some progressive ideas with work-life mgmt.

Cons

Too many reorgs. Agents and employees can't keep up with the changes. Sometimes the changes are good but then everything changes in two years and the prior achievements are lost. The latest commercial insurance reorg, which took 8-9 months to roll-out, was a complete scrambling of the framework laid by the prior major reorg. Speaking for underwriting, in the field we couldn't figure out what in the world mgmt was thinking with the latest changes. not clear what successful competitor we were emulating or what future business model we were preparing for. All that was clear was the stress and uncertainty the field had to endure yet again. I believe the company will remain a strong platform in the long run given the investments in technology and the talent they have but the employees are being put through a painful, and needless IMO, roller coaster ride.

Pros

Large company benefits some what decent pay. You have to put in many years to make anything worth staying around for.

Cons

Executive leadership is awful and we as the employees cannot voice our opinion. We given a monthly survey that we’re told to put a certain number rating otherwise we’re labeled a “detractor”. My guess is senior leadership does that to avoid having to deal with the issues that are company wide. The claims department is a turn over factory with employees leaving weekly. This lead to more & more work for the employees that stay. The CAT pay is awful and not worth the time away from our families. We’re told to “work hard better”, not sure what that means, but hey, I guess that’s why I don’t make the big bucks! The new estimating software is garbage. It freezes all the time. It follows a growing trend. Leadership wants to be” 95/25” and they are slashing all cost to get there. Under the current CEO work left balance has declined dramatically. You can expect to be overworked from an early point of your career. It was never this bad. Leadership should be reviewing this page to determine away to fix the problems that are now running rampant.
