Pros

Some work from home days, 401k match and pension

Cons

Lack of advancement opportunities, negative working environment, poor management, lack of trust in management, retaliation (This company acts as if it prides itself on its core values yet acts completely adverse to what it portrays its values to be)

Pros

None, liberty mutual is a horrible place to work.

Cons

People in supervisory and management positions across most departments lack interpersonal skills and are passive aggressive, pay is horrible, they look to interns and temps to do work only experienced professionals should be doing, constant layoffs, no growth whatsoever. Mandatory special projects required but workload does not easily permit completion, so no bonuses. Would never recommend working for such a horrible company.

Forget ERISA, Just Deny The Claim

Pros

Liberty is a straightforward place to work, if you've worked at one insurance company, you've worked here. If you just want to come in an pick up a paycheck, without having to return phone calls of claimants, this is a great place to work. Ignoring calls, not returning voicemail, etc are all generally accepted, and your supervisor won't hassle you about it.

Cons

The claims policies are designed to result in a denial regardless of the merits of the claim itself, especially with employer policies that are covered under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act, because even an actively fraudulent denial (which happens daily, by design) won't result in any costs to the company unless a US Attorney decides to prosecute..... which they don't. If that's the kind of place you want to work, go for it - it's safe and secure, as long as you don't mind hurting people already injured and unable to work.
