A great place to work

Pros

The opportunity to meet and work with some incredibly intelligent and talented people. A warm and collaborative working environment, where people aren't afraid to be honest with each other. Job dependent, the opportunity to travel to some amazing places. There is no perceived hierarchy; the senior managers are approachable and work closely with their teams.

Cons

It sometimes feels like budgetary restraints are never ending, from managers being unable to hire the candidates they want, to investment in software that would make work easier for a large group, being able to take a team on a nice lunch etc. Some people, managers in particular, might find the constant 'no' response to requests involving financial input frustrating / demotivating.

Pros

In short: for early career moves, i.e. people under 30, you will learn more and be exposed to more aspects of business -- the sides of business not seen by most until they are much more advanced in years -- in a shorter time than you would anywhere else. You will will learn and do more here than anywhere else in the economy. Exciting, even 'sexy' work. Broad and deep exposure to multiple client bases (financial services, Fortune 500, first tier law firms, etc). Best-in-class client service, product and service quality, and project management. Wonderful mentors in the practice of the trade.

Cons

Company full of best-in-class experts in their fields, but almost zero business-minded people. Company still run as a specialist firm, not quite an international multi-hundred million dollar business. Horrible development culture for lower- to mid-level employees. Business designed to benefit upper management and clients only; lower level staff ridden very hard until they leave for competitors or in-house at clients. Not competitive compensation. Uniquely unsupportive management culture. Top-down mentality stifles innovation. Even upper management in regions and business lines completely disenfranchised by headquarters.

Cons

1. From day 1 I was lied to by my own team because they knew if they told me I would have left. 2. Management is the most unorganised I've come across in all my work experience. 3. The team and company are very segregated in terms of sticking to their teams; very difficult to feel included unless you're a middle-aged white person. 4. Tonnes of bias and double standards when it came to designating workload among the team 5. Unrealistic expectations when you're new. 6. Speaks a lot about diversity but that isn't the reality. 7. HR don't help/push blame. 8. When I left, only 1 new person reached out to me - NO ONE else in the entire team did. I don't know why I'm even surprised at this. 9. Even the collection of my equipment was badly handled - my home address was shared with people who didn't need it so there is clearly no regard or confidentiality for people's personal information. 10. Micro-managed! Goodness me it was bad. My manager chased me around the office a few times, this was such a red flag.
