I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Upwork
Interview
Interview 1 was with HR
Interview 2 was changed from the HM - VP to a visiting professor
TBH, it was pretty obvious the position was not real and upwork was just using the interviews to curate ideas for their actual real position that they had sent to a recruiting agency (Sr Director).
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
All the questions were in regards to what changes you would make to upwork.
I applied online. I interviewed at Upwork in Dec 2018
Interview
Interview was conducted remotely. Relatively simple interview, asked about experience and basic background info. Nothing particularly difficult. It would be useful to prepare for some general questions such as whether you like to work in a team and why.
I applied online. I interviewed at Upwork (Chicago, IL) in Jan 2021
Interview
Within 5 minutes of the call, the recruiter interrupted me to confirm I had no tech experience, which I did not, nor had I ever claimed that I did during the process. So they had to pivot and tried to pitch me on another position that was contract. I listed and indicated interest in learning more, got an email the next day about it, responded and never heard back. Was a frustrating waste of both our time, should probably not interview people you haven't reviewed their resumes. A lot of excitement, to be ghosted.
