Pros

Working at Walmart is a great way to get started on your work experience. You meet all kinds of customers on a daily basis, and I still see Walmart veterans here still learning new things here. There are some notable benefits as well, such as free college classes, which is great! I've had some great coworkers here as well. Overall, this job is a great choice to get all kinds of careers going.

Cons

Walmart management is a big concern. You really aren't treated like a "family" here, and they will be sure you stay on your toes. Rather than being a source for encouragement for associates, they feel more menacing and even inhumane at times. I've even had times where they would suggest I do things that kind of go against my values. You can feel yourself start to sweat when they are around you, which is probably a bad sign. Customers can also be an issue, as there are many customers that will yell at you and break your heart no matter how much kindness you give to them. First day training was also an issue for me here as well, as it was very messy my first few weeks. (These challenges can be seen in a good light though; managing through these issues can provide great experience!)

Pros

It's OK place to work not too good not too bad

Cons

- India people are treated as second class employees. - They have change review meeting scheduled 10:30 PM India time which runs till mid night - Change review committee (steer co) people treat India associate badly as they are from other company. For trivial things ask them to come again another day like snapshot not attached to CHG etc which is definitely insensitivity towards people up at night for company work. - Leadership has deaf ears to complain from India employees. - Indian leadership simply pacify US counterpart with no stand of their own. - Lot of location politics with clear sufferings to India center

Pros

Plenty of opportunities if one is willing to do the work. I started as a Garden Associate in California and worked my way to a leadership HR position.

Cons

As with any job, management is key. It is a flip of a coin, unfortunately. I have been lucky to have worked with a few great managers who saw my potential and helped to develop my career in the company.
