VMware's compensation structure shifted from a base salary + bonus to a commission based payout. There are significant risks associated to the newly formed commission payout structure and they are worth considering: 1) High Revenue Target, 2) The Annual Revenue Target is a "moving" target and can be changed at mid year depending on the group accomplishments, and 3) Lack of Control on when deals are closed. From a holistic view, this is a Win-Lose outcome at the expense of the Employees.
Moreover, career growth, rewards & incentives are limited! One can expect to stay within the same role for 4-5 years before being considered for promotion with minimal salary adjustment.
