Pros

This company is wonderful. But as of lately there has been an unprecedented amount of turn over not only in the SDR zone but also from middle management. which leads me to believe that there is some sort of impasse from upper management (potentially an ivory tower complex). The company treats all of its employees unbelievable well while they are working in their current position. Yet, what I have noticed is any time someone tries to take a step forward in their professional career at Upwork, the result is them leaving the company for an opportunity somewhere else. So if you love the SDR this is the company for you. If you are looking to develop into a new position I would reconsider applying.

Cons

Poor leadership choices and transparency. I've heard the promotion process is somewhat near impossible to accomplish. Sales metrics have been set amusingly high and management gets frustrated when not a single member of the sales org hits quota.

Pros

This is a great company. I definitely "drink the koolaid" here. The culture is very supportive, the people are smart and hard working, and the leadership team is authentic, encouraging more comfortable, friendly working relationships. The main thing that is great about this company is that people really believe in the mission - which is to create opportunities so people have better lives and it is central to what we do. It's a rare company where you can do good by doing well.

Cons

I don't really think there are cons - I will acknowledge there have been a lot of changes lately, and while that can be hard, it isn't a con as I think all the changes are making the company stronger. No company is perfect, but I'm surprised at so many negative reviews; though you can never make everyone happy. The company tries hard to seek input from workers, so it is a bummer that folks are so unhappy and yet don't report it to the company - a lot of the complaints seem like they could be resolved if people raised them.
