Pros

The office is really multinational, everyone is friendly and young. Everyone gets along pretty well and tries to do a good job. If you are trying to get into translation, this is a good place to make contacts. Possibly working in the Quality department would not be too bad as I think they actually leave the office on time. It's good training in stress management.

Cons

The company is reliant on the fact that its production dept work between 5-10 hours unpaid overtime every week. I was told in the interview that if I had to work overtime, I would get this back in compensation time. This is a lie - if you work at TPT, you'll never get even one third of your time back. You will be tired all the time and it will severly damage your social life. I have seen a number of employees crying at their desks. What's more management always shifts the blame to the employees. If you are working overtime, they say it is because you are incompetent. There is a $50,000 target for all PMs every month. If you do not bring in this figure you will go on probation. The catch is the figure is wildly unrealistic, and only 16% of PMs actually meet it. The "target" is a way to scare employees into silence about the abusive working conditions. The other people working there are fantastic but have absolutely no time to talk to each other because they are desperately trying to fit 12 hours work into 8 hours. The CEOs are constantly trying to squeeze even more profit out of the company, which means offering translators very low rates and asking for very short turnaround times. As a result, quality is often very bad but any mistake made is YOUR FAULT as a PM. Any complaints about other members of the company will be dismissed immediately and refiled as a complaint against you. The company is apparantly ISO compliant, but quality will never improve because they only really care about ticking boxes. The turnover rate is ridiculous, with many people leaving after around 6-8 months. Everyone I know at the company was job hunting. The problem is that management doesnt care because they still make a great profit so nothing will change. Don't accept a job there, or if you do, use the first couple of months to keep job hunting while you still have the energy.

Pros

You get to meet friendly people from all over the world (but everyone leaves within 6 or 8 months, as this is a horrible place to work)

Cons

- You have to work many hours, a lot of times 12 hours a day, and don't get compensated - It's like working in a factory, everyone is responsible for one small part of the process and the work is not intellectually rewarding at all - You feel like a robot in the end doing the same trick over and over again (with someone yelling behind you all the time that you have to go faster and faster) - The management is negative, encouraging staff to give each other 'CAFs', negative feedback. - If you get a 'CAF', or your job was late, you have to send an email to the management why this happened, but with the workload you've got it's impossible to finish a job the way you'd like to finish it. If they respond, they send you a comment about how stupid it was what you did etc. - You get encouraged to treat the linguists bad, underpay them so that the company can gain more money - There are illegal practises like don't paying the overhours, a union which isn't really a union (seniors that really won't stick up for the rights of the employees) - It's impossible to take a day off, because within your team there's only one person at a time allowed to take the day off and for some reason it's never you. Also, on bank holidays mostly you'll have to work (the normal long hours). - They overload you with work and responsibilities even if you can't take it anymore, it's impossible to finish the amount of work within the normal timeframe. Even if you work 12 hours a day the management pushes you to the limit. - The senior management comes from the same company and has been working at TPT for years, they start to accept the horrible work environment.

Pros

-If you're desperate for a job, well, it is still a job. -Free tea and coffee to help you stay awake during the 12 hours at the office

Cons

-Low pay -Management treats you like dirt -My manager, specifically, had no idea what he or she was doing. It's a mystery how he or she got the job. -The HR policies are deceptive. HR will tell you that you can accumulate the hours you've worked overtime to take days off later. However you will not be able to take them off when there's "low capacity", and will continue to accrue them. -Long hours.. It's sick that some people actually brag that they've stayed at the office until 2am. If you think you'd have a problem staying at the office until 2am while getting paid less than 10 euros an hour, don't work here.
