Pros

You get the chance to learn a lot about the translation industry. My colleagues.

Cons

Toxic enviroment. Extra hours are pretty much taken for granted and not compensated in any shape or form. Most employees are overwhelmed by the amount of work they are asked to handle on a dalily basis (which is simply too much) and it is not uncommon to see people crying in the office regularly. However managment does not seem to take employees unhappliness seriously and blames people for being too negative or dramatic, without offering any form of support nor any empathy. Any complaints gets shush down as quick as possible and the person that raised a critique or complaint gets emarginated as much as possible by the managers by talking behind the employees back with other employees.

Cons

Company is saving every cent; no warm water, bad salaries, bad benefits, shady bonus system. Forget career development.

Pros

-Learn a lot in first 6 months. -Entry level colleagues friendly and enthusiastic.

Cons

-Very low salaries. -No salary increases - You receive an email from HR once a year instructing you not to mention your salary in your annual appraisal because this conversation will happen separately. That day never comes. -Verbal promises of bonuses that never materialize. -Compensation of overtime is an issue - never paid, sometimes compensated with time 1:1, other times ignored and left uncompensated. -No sick pay. -Use of personal laptop and other equipment is standard practice - if the equipment gets damaged, there is no policy that covers repairs or replacement. -In 2024, a tendency to offer new hires freelance contracts (falso autónomo) and pay them in dollars. -Micromanagement on steroids. -Little or no recognition of the achievements of individual employees. Everybody is replaceable. -Unfair treatment of freelance linguists. -Stress and burnout are common. If brought to the attention of managers, they ignore or even criticize you. Colleagues have signed off with stress as per recommendation from their doctor and some even quit. -High turnover. -Favoritism is an issue. -Cases of bullying with full investigations being conducted by HR. -Constructive discharge (pressure to quit) of a pregnant colleague. -Colleagues fired without warning or reason. -Ultimatums presented to colleagues who were hired with a remote working guarantee - i.e. move to a city where our offices are located or quit now. -Employees sometimes forced to move to another department whether they want to or not. If they resist, management implies they will be fired in the near future. There is no compensation in terms of salary or conditions for the move. -No transparency from upper management.
