Pros
Good place to work if you can fully dissociate from your work and have no problem with acting like an incompetent : in that case, just follow blindly your ego-tripping reporting manager’s directives, even if he will probably not be technically qualified for this job. As they are not firing anyone, you are insured to keep your job - pay and benefits can be quite good - as misery loves company, you can trauma bond with your teammates and staff is usually very nice. This is still a prestigious company so can be a valuable experience on your resume - at the price of your self esteem
Cons
The whole experience feels like entering a cult : every single sr manager is a middle aged white man who attended polytechnique. Company culture is highly toxic and has this “holier than thou” mentality - management praise themselves with high environmental targets that they will never achieve because of the indecisive and slow decision process. even if you are hired as a technical expert, your opinion won’t matter and will be overlooked in favour of sr management arbitrary decisions. Bullying tactics and blatant favorism. Extremely high turnover due to overworking skilled people with no rewards : if you show enthusiasm or capability, you will do the job of 2-3 people. Big HQ focus so you will be expected to work at all hours of the day and night to adjust with Paris’ timing. Pushes passionate people to burnout.
