Pros

I got a nice pay raise to come to CIGNA. You can write lots of apps off the side of your desk, but that has a lot of downside too. I have been given a lot of responsibility in less than a year, but I will wait to see if it pays off as I have only been here for a year. I busted my butt this past year, and I am not sure if it was worth it. It is nice to have vacation days outside of your PTO bucket. Free parking!

Cons

Technology and many of their processes and practices seem archaic .... no sense of team. Definitely no raises and probably no bonuses this year.

Pros

Schedule flexibility, able to work without being micro-managed. Definitely not the worst place to work, sometimes it has even been a great place to work. Good place to learn but it is hard to move up even when you exceed year after year unless you want to move to Bloomfield.

Cons

The forced ranking of employees to a specific percentage. Rank is mostly done before reviews are written. Depending on your part of the organization some managers are "challenged" to rank employees on their team to that percentage. Upper leadership and direction changes too often. New leadership always means a lot of extra work for the rest of us.

Pros

It is a very large company that has many benefits it can offer. People there are very friendly and eager to help out and meet with you if you are eager to learn and better yourself. Overall it is fun and the people are very relaxed and not overworked, but still get a large amount of work done and seem happy to be doing it. I liked the the office promootes healthy living and eating to allow the employees to have a strong work versus life balance both at home and in the workplace. I would work at CIGNA again.

Cons

CIGNA is in a suburb. Anyone who is a young professional may not enjoy the very suburban atmosphere of the CIGNA office in bloomfield, ct. Additionally, there is alot of traffic on the small road leading to the office which causes much frustration with over three thousand employees trying to get to work in the morning. The cafeteria was slightly overpriced in my eyes but the food was good nonetheless. People at CIGNA seem to enjoy what they are doing and can sometimes get caught up with corporate culture and say nothing words like touchpoint and brief meeting. That can be annoying at CIGNA
