Pros

Pros at Cigna are hard to come by. Albeit, there are some great people working for this company. The benefits weren't terrible although, are costly. The office I was forced to return to was relatively nice despite the cubicle farm that was extremely loud. Be sure to invest in noise canceling headphones!

Cons

So many! Toxic leadership from the very top down to the manager/supervisor level. Constant criticism and a complete lack of recognition for anything. Even the "coaching" sessions are comprised of direct criticism that has an absolute negative effect. There is a complete lack of governance and the governance that is in place is so convoluted it hurts. It would be easier to understand if there were any type of reference guides to follow but when asked or searched for, there is actually nothing so you are on your own to figure it out. Leadership/management will force execution on so called deliverables despite any real understanding of current state. One on one's are used solely for one of the 'thousands' of status updates rather than employee-manager check-ins. There wasn't a single one on one had where development was discussed and any mention of roadblocks was entirely the employee's fault for not executing quickly enough. Speaking of leadership, if you join this organization, expect constant senior leadership change and/or shifts on a quarterly basis, if not every other month. This leaves entire departments with questions on direction and priorities constantly. It's a miracle they can agree on anything at all and if there is any level of problem solving, the solutions are only the obvious surface level solutions because there is no time for any real root cause problem solving. This organization approaches problem solving as identify deliverables and report on them, then move onto the next 'fire,' so to speak. If anyone takes time to truly investigate issues, they are ostracized or mocked in meetings [by senior leadership] for taking too long and are accused of "going down the rabbit hole." Ultimately, this company is so disjointed, it is an absolute shock they are able to continually operate on a daily basis.

Pros

Benefits and work from home

Cons

They micro manage THE bleep out of you! The management doesn’t care about quality but mostly quantity! The metrics are a pretty much unattainable. Mass emails constantly with filled changes. No one stands up for the GC’s! NO ONE! Every department has their way with GC’s. If they want it someone in the background is asking them how high you want them to jump! Leadership NEVER ASK what we need to be more successful! It’s sad the turnaround is so bad. People come to this department and leave fast! It’s so much pressure the GC’s literally fill overwhelmed all the time. I really hope something changes for them!
