Pros

I worked at TSA for over 5 years...became full time after 3 years, made lots of friends, and every day was a new adventure. The benefits and pay for what I did was good to start off on.

Cons

The management made this place unbearable...tried to promote to different positions for over 3 years and was always overlooked and they always picked their favorites. Favoritism runs rampant in this agency. It's not about what you are qualified to do, or how well you do your job, it's about who you know or who you're sleeping with. I tried everything to promote to other positions, Lead, Behavior Detection Officer, Training, even Administrative, and still nothing. I tried transferring out to another airport hoping to get away from the favoritism and every time I was blocked from leaving. I finally applied to be a steward for the Union which was the only place I could go to, and got that position. In the end I learned one thing, this is the bottom of the barrel when it comes to government jobs, the passengers mistreat you, management belittles you..Even though they don't know what they are doing themselves and are seriously undereducated for their positions...and the hours vary wildly for seniority...even myself that had over 5 years seniority still didn't compare to the old timers that had been there for over 10, 15 or 20 years.

Pros

1. Acceptable pay for young people. 2. Typical work shifts avoid heavy traffic. 3. Interesting Environment 4. Union 5. Can easily work more hours if needed(sometimes it will be overtime or you can pick up shifts from others)

Cons

1. Poor management 2. Will find incompetent co-workers 3. Many lazy people(at least in baggage, lots of micro-management in checkpoint) 4. Underpaid if you are there for longer than 2-3 years if you start now. 5. Many disgruntled employees makes for a bad work environment.

Pros

Across the street from Pentagon City Mall

Cons

No communication, Micromanaging, No SOP, No proper training, favoritism ... Not the place for a contractor with experience . The absolute worst contract I've been on in all of my 10 years of contracting. No respect for contractors at all. The culture in my office at TSA/DHS was Very hard to adjust to, people are very insensitive and self centered, not professional at all.
