Pros

Weenies and beans for dinner. Hope you like them. You will not be eating steak and seafood. You will not be able to put enough money into TSP for retirement, even though it is a great benefit. Lots of "staycation" annual leave but no exotic trips.

Cons

TSA will not tell you that YOU will be hired under ATSA and get less pay and more hassles than Title 5 Government employees, also known as a REAL government position.

Good job satisfaction working for DHS keeping travelers safe. Good pay with no degree or experience needed.

Cons

Extremely lengthy and confusing hiring process. You apply for the job and once you get the offer you into a ready pool for assignment where you might not hear from them up to a year.
