Pros

It is hard to get fired, but it is not worth it.

Cons

Terrible management, terrible work conditions, work holidays, rude people, no appreciation, demanding, heavy lifting and standing. Bonuses are not worth the work to get them.

A good starter job... if you can start full time

Pros

- paid training is provided - it is a shift-work job, but you bid for your shifts for six months, so there are no surprises - easy to pick up overtime, paid holidays, healthcare options, and 5% matching in your TSP savings

Cons

- if you start part time, it is probably a minimum of 6 months before full time will ever be available, and even then it depends on the size and demand of your airport - leave is determined according to seniority and order the requests are received, so you'll be behind everyone when you start - as a new employee, you will probably have either the early AM shift (0400-1230) or the late PM shift (1200-2030) with weekdays as your RDOs, which can significantly interfere with your ability to see other people - you work holidays, you work during a government shutdown, you work if the weather is bad and roads are closed
