Pros

-Good benefits. -Lots of career opportunities. -4 week vacation + personal & sick days -Managers have your back if you are stellar

Cons

-Overworked/under paid -Too many reorgs makes organization branches lose focus or dismiss previous objectives resulting in wasted efforts -Grandfathered/archaic tools -New employees often quit early due to lack of training and heavy workloads for below average salary resulting in the sr. employees absorbing the workload. This was an ongoing cycle and main reason of backlog while I was employed at Telus -All departments are siloed and get defensive when help is asked

Pros

Hybrid Remote/Full Remote/Full time office your choice. Work from anywhere in the country. Move around and keep your job. Fairly recession proof but does have some ups and downs with economy. Will never go bankrupt, very stable. Matching employee share plan up to 5% contribution at a 40% discount to market, so free money to be had. Expanding from Telco to Tech company everyday, branching into many industries and has an international branch as well

Cons

HR designed overlapping pay ranges and rules designed to prevent a pay increase when moving to higher job levels that overlap. Usually when promoted you have to wait a year in the job, get a good review and then you will get adjusted to the middle/average. Moving beyond average pay in a job requires backflips and good company year. Moving up the ladder can be done, but you have to be in the right areas. If you aren't then move to another ASAP. Marketing and sales in Consumer Wireline or Wireless is good. If your boss likes or depends on you enough they can't get VP approval to override any of the HR policy handcuffs. Your most important negotiation is the first one when joining the company, getting higher pay is a slog but can be done.

Pros

Good product, great customer service, expanding into new and exciting services in health and agriculture technology

Cons

Too much company politics with so many great people being let go on a regular basis. The culture from the top is designed to reinforce a mentality of "please the boss or get fired".
