Pros

the people are awesome and a diverse work force is encouraged. the company respects all religions. the company also respects minorities, and all sexual preferances. it realy does care about it's customers. employees are always encouraged to do the right thing, even if it costs the company money. when you screw up its looked at as a learning opportunity even if its detrimental to the company.

Cons

salaries are below average for professionals, lots of politics, business units do not share employees (hard to switch between departments for management without causing political stress). it's a growing compnay that is trying to get away from the old government ownership, and as such, people have a negative attitude towards it. there are lots of growing pains with the transformation to a company that was government owned to a company that has to turn a profit

Pros

telecom a stable industry, great growth potential. transfer within company encouraged good benefit package (thought not as good as before) free cellphone (even better you get an world phone if you are manager and up)

Cons

recognition and promotion most time dictated rather than based on adequate performance review non prime location, average salary hate exec always say everything is ok, we're doing a great job when actually is not. also senior execs are too conservative to implement changes below bar cross team cooperation huge difference between teams marketing, finance, tbs get the most glory (and money) so go for it if you can get in these dept.

Pros

Telus values it's employees. The fact that you get 3 weeks off when you start is a wonderful benefit. You receive health, dental and employee purchase plan, which is very competitive compared to other big organizations. There is an open door policy, which makes it easy for you to approach your upper management and make your feedback and opinion count. Telus is always seeking their employees feedback, so they can continue to improve the experience. Telus invest in it's people by providing continuous learning and training sessions. They are very involved in the community and support many charities. They encourage their employees to help in the communities as well

Cons

There are a lot of bureacracy when working at Telus. Although Telus is a national company; each region only focuses on what's important to their business unit. Lots of legacy systems, which makes implementing orders a challenge. A simple order takes forever to fulfill since too many people touch the order before it get implemented. Telus is focusing on growing market share in Ontario, however their mentality and business approach is geered and focused on what has worked in the West. They do not realize that the East market is very different than the West market. The management team in the West is ok. Not the strongest managers, however in the East, the cakiber is far more superior...No comparison at all!!! Perhaps the west needs to learn on the successes of their east conterparts
