Pros

TELUS is an employer that values its employees on many fronts. It invests in Learning and Development, it provides great work/life balance (such as work at home programs, good vacation amounts, etc.), and has a track record for treating everyone with dignity and respect. The opportunity exists to have several careers within a single organization, and people are great to work with - friendships are made that reach outside work hours. It is also a place where creative minds are valued, and employees are empowered to make decisions that have an impact to the organization - this is a very rewarding environment in which to work.

Cons

TELUS is a large organization. While internal politics are much lower than at other companies this size, they are not altogether avoidable.

Pros

The pay is fair for the work that is expected. You get either a free or cheap cell phone bill/ handset.

Cons

No recognition for a job well done. Recognition is not consistent. It consists of working hard for great stats and if you're lucky enough to win a draw for a "hidden stat" you may receive recognition. Otherwise there is no general recognition for doing your job well on a daily basis. Communication is not up to par. Management does not communicate on a regular basis things that are important to your development in your role. Sure they'll send out an email to let you know that Service Levels are low, but nothing imperative to your career development especially monthly meetings to coach you on such career development (which often get canceled due to Service Levels). Also, working to solve issues with client's that have devices that you have no access to (ie: working demos or emulators) can make for very frustrating and sometimes embarrassing troubleshooting.

Pros

money, money, money. That is, until deduction time.

Cons

The schedule, the treatment, the lack of recognition, the lack of incentive, the 6 minutes a day you get to go to the bathroom or do anything else you might need "personally", the fact that call centre stats - and not brains, skills, and happy customer feedback - are sole indicator of whether a person should qualify for another position in the company. Has it ever occurred to you that a person might perform BETTER given a different task? Not to senior management.
