Pros

Pension, stock program, work from home, medical benefits, vacation time after 15+ years. Generally good coworkers but many giant ego's at the director and above level. Advancement is possible if you're heavily credentialed or connected.

Cons

TELUS is good for new management and professional hires to get some experience. However, once you're established there is very little possibility of seeing wage increases. The last 10 years salaries have stagnated, while days off were cut, health benefits co-pay increased and bonus pay (aka performance pay, variable pay) has been tinkered with effectively reducing comp.

Pros

Increasing focus on front-line and lower-level management employee satisfaction and 'engagement'. Strong supporter of flexible work location arrangements (Workstyles) -- encouraging working from home few days a week.

Cons

Compensation below market. Middle-management employees with significant additional team leadership accountability do not get properly comp'ed for that. With all focus on front-line and lower-level management employees, middle-management got forgotten about. Quite a political place -- it's all about whom you know.

Pros

-Competitive wages in the industry -Some helpful co-workers I eventually ended up being great friends with -Decent perks & benefits (profit sharing, RRSP and bonus) -$15 mobile plans for employees

Cons

-Some awful co-workers who try to intoxicate the corporate culture. Lots of backstabbing and office politics -Get blamed for the least mistake, and no one willing to take responsibility, instead shifting the blame on others -Lack of opportunities for career growth. Moving up to managerial roles can be challenging, require enormous amounts of time, and is based on who knows who (favouritism) -Some awful team/senior managers who apply lots of double standards to the work place, and target minorities especially. (I saw lots of good people quit/leave because of this)
