Pros

If you are a full time employee the benefit plan are nice and signing up for the stock plan is worth it. A lot people I worked with were amazing.

Cons

Zero to little reward for employee loyalty. I worked there for 4 years and left just in time. Some managers in the company are great, but I others are horrible and do nothing to contribute to the stores success. The new pay structure doesn't offer commission and luckily I left just before the switch. When I started the benefits and perks made it work. A lot of employees that have been around for years are really jaded and unhappy to be there. You are pretty much disposable no matter how much energy and passion you put into your job. The company's priority is definitely serving the shareholders. Things have been sliding downhill fast the last few years. I enjoy being a customer, but it's not worth it being on the payroll.

Pros

The company offers matching of RRSP contributions, stock purchase, and comprehensive extended health on top of compensation and benefits. Lots of online training available. Lots of personal development.

Cons

Ongoing upgrade of skills and credentials required to be retained or you are let go. Work Life Balance is just formality. Management says you don't have to work more 7.5 hours a day but it is a silent expectation especially with the mobile work program.

Sell VISA's or you're fired!

Pros

There are animals in the advertisements

Cons

Telus has recently become horrendous towards their employees. Employees at all of our stores are now expected to sign customers up with actual VISA cards (not just the prepaid ones). Employees have been told if they haven't sold enough to meet a target, then they will lose their jobs. VISA's have never been part of the sales process up until recently. They don't even care if the customer needs it now. It is literally, sell to them whether they need it or not. Is there commission for these? Nope. You just get to keep your job for harassing customers. TELUS is trying to get many employees to quit. They want to hire new recruits who will work harder for less- since they changed the pay structure, benefits and employee lines...for the worst.
