Pros

Starbucks was wonderful when I started in 1997. They seemed to really have respect for employees and live their mission statement! Customer service was most important and we were empowered to just say yes to make the customer leave happy!

Cons

They have opened too many stores throughout the years. As a store manager, we would be put on action plans for not making budgeted sales even though they had just opened a store 2 blocks away! The past 3-4 years, they have become just about making money at any cost. The respect for employees gone. As a SM, they said it was a 40 hour workweek, but it was usually 55 to make your budgeted labor and have a clean store! Then upper mgmt would say you don't know how to utilize time mgmt! Can't win...

Pros

Pretty good benefits, including markouts and partner discounts

Cons

Too much middle management; too many layers between decision-makers and staff.
