Pros

Fantastic benefits; fun, casual work atmosphere; entry level salary is higher than at comparable firms. Flexible work hours, and strong sense of unity among editorial units.

Cons

Raises are hard to come by, and promotions are even more difficult. Instead of being promoted for doing good work, you have to hope the department head asks for a "new position" and then you can apply for it - against the other eight EAs in your division. Different departments (editorial, production, accounting) butt heads frequently.

Pros

The best reason to work at Springer was the opportunity to travel and interact with learned and interesting authors, editors, and colleagues around the world. I enjoyed learning about the content areas and developing a network among leaders in the field. Colleagues, at least in the Massachusetts offices, were great to work with, and maintained a family atmosphere.

Cons

The compensation was meager and the path to career development was extremely unclear. Performance had little impact on career advancement or salary decisions, and employees outside of the major European offices or New York had even fewer opportunities.

Pros

Every team is so different, and the good teams are great. There is a strong sense of international camaraderie with some amazingly friendly and kind people. Some of the kindest I have worked with. The opportunities for career development are endless, and international travel is frequent. At times working here was exhilarating.

Cons

The bad teams lack leadership, morale and cooperation. I moved between 3 teams during my time at Springer Nature and it was almost like moving into a different company, each one was so vastly different. At times, working here was so demoralising and stagnant. So much so that I eventually left.

Thank you for sharing your review and sorry to hear that you had a less positive experience in one of key Netherlands offices. We appreciate all feedback and strive to improve and offer consistent experiences for our colleagues as their learning journey continues and it's a shame that you left us. It is our mission to help the community to discover, learn and achieve more. We serve this cause by making knowledge accessible across our three business areas of Research, Education and Professional. At Springer Nature, our values and ways of working are more than words on a screen. They are lived across the organisation by our people. Each of our four values - Partnership, Integrity, Drive and Responsibility - is directly linked to two ways in which we work.
