Thank you. Science and knowing that everyday what you do will help scientists and educators find solutions to interesting and meaningful topics that impact our plant is rewarding for colleagues and also working alongside inspiring & highly talented people on varied and rewarding projects is great. We review our salaries in line with industry benchmarks and offer competitive benefits with hybrid working so we all have a strong blend of work and home life allowing us to enjoy time with colleagues as well as family and friends.

Pros

Knowledgeable, driven and passionate editorial colleagues.

Cons

Core technology, tools and software are failing, while the company has jumped on the AI hype bandwagon with no clue what they are doing and producing nothing useful. Management seem to be happy to let quality drop in order to chase profits. Poor career opportunities.

Thank you. We want all our colleagues to be their best at work and enjoy a healthy working environment where they feel included, listened to and able to be themselves. We actively encourage different views, experiences and opinions. We have developed a global career hub allowing our colleagues to more easily browse our current jobs (currently @ around 300), tips and ideas on how to own your own career development with the support of your manager. In terms of AI, we are actively looking to develop a sustainable and financially viable long term approach to efficient, safe, ethical and smart use of AI tooling at Springer Nature.

Pros

Diversity and inclusion, alternate Friday off

Cons

Incompetence at even the highest levels, favouritism, gaslighting talented employees, breaking their confidence and eventually driving them out of the company, unfair promoting practices such as promoting poor performers. Insecure managers who are more bosses than leaders and push down people who are smarter than them. Whistleblowing and grievance reporting go through the manager or their manager, so there's no way of speaking up against corruption. Diversity initiatives are great in theory but cis white straight males get special preference. Many publishing colleagues don't even have university degrees because those with higher education are working in jobs at Springer that they are overqualified for.

Sorry to read your review which is not in line with our culture at Springer Nature where we thrive on diversity, equity and inclusion. Our 10 employee networks focus on fostering dialogue around DEI, community building, advice, advocacy and sustainability. We have an anonoymous Speak up programme that is entirely separate from the manager of the manager and concerns or complaints raised go directly to our compliance team. I would encourage you to speak up or talk to your local or global HR contact to discuss the concerns you have raised. We also have a free and confidential employee assistance programme which offers well being support as well as legal and financial guidance. This is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days in a year and is free of charge to all colleagues and members of their household.
