Shift in Company Culture – Proceed with Caution
Pros
Product, reputation, benefits and smart people
Cons
I once held Salesforce in high regard, believing it was a beacon in the corporate world. A few years ago, it would have been a dream company for many. However, my recent experience paints a different picture. On a positive note, the products are commendable. However, in recent times, they feel stagnant and lack the innovative edge that once set Salesforce apart. Moreover, there's an overwhelming amount of manual work required from AEs to input data into the system. It's quite ironic, given that Salesforce is supposed to be a pioneer in streamlining business processes. Achieving quotas has become an uphill battle, with many of us grappling with vast targets. The absence of a Sales Engineer (SE) for over 1.5 years in my case didn't help. The hiring strategy seems muddled, with new AEs brought onboard for markets that lack adequate marketing support. These AEs, despite being in nascent markets, are expected to meet the same quotas as their counterparts in mature markets. The pressure is immense, and this reflects in the company atmosphere. Many steadfast colleagues are now on performance improvement plans (PIP). Daily threats of termination have instilled a palpable sense of fear and created a toxic work environment. In its current state, I'd advise potential candidates to think twice before diving in. Salesforce has a storied past, but its present narrative is one of caution.
