Pros

-chance to live abroad -in some bases good salary but it is almost a mission impossible for new crew -stafftravel (however in some cases staff pays more then pax,so the main advantage is that the price of the staff ticket is always the same, even if u buy it only few hours before the flight)

Cons

-depending on the base, your workload can be almost unbearable -expect long workhours (mostly 10-12 hours spent actually on the aircraft) -terrible treatment from supervisors and crewcontrol -basically no respect for employees, they are only numbers for the company -very low salary for new employees, especially in wintertime when there are less flights -altough they promise you a comission, most of it is not paied (again depending on bases),what the company claims on stock discrepancies (altough they have no provement) -terrible quality of uniform they dont provide not even water (in some places it is available in the crewroom but in my base the tap doesnt work, you either buy it from the machine or take it from the toilet) -as there are over 50 bases around the network, there are almost no staffparties funded by the company (again depending on the bases,in places where the sales are good, some of the retail companies sometimes pay a party for the crew),i havent had a christmas party in the last 5 years -managers are unbeliavablly unprofessional,it all depends on who you arw friends with not what are you capable off -because of the financial crisis very few cabin crew resigned in the past few years what means no chance of promotion for existing staffmembers, this leads to a high level of frustration and bad atmosphere

Pros

Usually all airline projects are quite interesting. You will be able to work with top people in the industry and learn from the best practices in software engineering. In some of them you will have to make use of optimization data structures and algorithms due to the large amount of data it handles. The environment depends on the project and the team you are in, usually quite well. Not much more benefits than flight tickets. Salaries are good.

Cons

Lack of employee benefits and sometimes lack of information.
