Pros

I did work with a lovely team & have met some wonderful customers who have made my day, I enjoy the products & you do get discounts.

Cons

They are very target based which is fair enough but you could be meeting your weekly targets but not hitting ATV & they are breathing down your neck to improve, which made me stress which ended up dropping my performance more because I felt anxious with every customer because I needed them to spend a certain amount or I'd be getting pulled out for not performing & comparing you to your colleague whose doing great whilst saying "I'm not comparing you but". It also created a sense of competition within the team because everyone would want the "good" customers so they had a high ATV, even had people on the team stealing customers from each other. The pay is odd, I was getting paid more in outer London than someone getting paid in Westfield! Also I work every single weekend both days unless I book it off but they want me to book it off a month in advance. What annoyed me the most is that the assistant manager & manager have at least one day off every weekend if not both days. Them working a full weekend is a rare thing as it is a rare thing for me to have a weekend off. Activation rain or shine they want someone outside continuously, but of course the assistant manager & manager didn't participate. It's just the most stressful job I've ever had & it has sucked a lot of confidence from me, I have been sick with worry, even having dreams about having bad days at work because I'm not selling enough per customer.

Pros

Unfortunately, I have nothing but negatives for this brand.

Cons

Rituals is a dated and archaic brand with absolutely no place in today's world. The ultra conservative and tyrannical brand culture totally eliminates any sort of identity for an employee. There is blatant racism and homophobia all around the corporate office, as well as from the central team in the Netherlands. If you're not blonde, thin, heterosexual or gorgeous, prepared to be manipulated and shredded to pieces. Total lack of knowledge on American culture, leaves this brand a money bleeding envoy of distaste. Employees are expected to act in a luxurious manner with a focus on clientelling, yet are forced to stand outside in the heat or snow begging for pedestrians to try the over priced chemically repugnant products. Managers have ZERO work life balance, and are expected to be available 365 days a year. Disrespect and misconduct is a constant from the corporate team to the retail teams, while store managers have a greater expectation than their superiors. The pay is ABISMAL, not to mention that most of the store managers, are ASSISTANT managers not being paid to run their own stores.

Desperate brand, desperate head office

Pros

- Generous allocation and 30% off - Small team allows you to bond well - The shop itself is very pleasing (looks wise) - Depending on the manager, you may be somewhat understanding -Extensive, fun training (although it can feel as if you're in school) - Generous gift at christmas

Cons

Where to begin? - Head office are a mess, pushing for unrealistic targets and causing the managers to stress out so much = everyone else stressed - The 'selling ceremony' requires employees to act as robots, you must remember every single detail, don't bother trying to personalise the experience for each individual customer, you must pick up the basket at all costs even if it scares them off - Managers insist you approach the customer again and again which drives them away - Head office are always watching you, so don't try and make a human error (remember you are a robot) - Rather than encouraging employees, things that need to be improved are always highlighted - Rotas aren't fixed and are changed at very short notice - Even if you're unwell, you feel obliged to come to work as no efficient cover is put in place and your co-workers will probably have to cover on your day off - No extra pay on bank holidays, christmas eve, boxing day, new year's eve or new year's day - Favouritism - Activation: once in a while it's fine to attract people in, it can even be fun to engage with customers outside, but everyday and every hour is excessive and desperate (if they want to come in store they will)
