Pros

I work, and have been working for Ikon/Ricoh for almost 2 years. Overall it is not a bad place to work. I believe most of it has to do with where I am, the people I work with are nice, I have good clients, and managers. I would reccomend working for Ikon/Ricoh to a friend, in fact, I have.

Cons

More pay would be nice, but you can't have it all.

Pros

The sales training is well respected in all industries, great for transition into higher level tech or healthcare Good intro to B2B sales Ability for new sales reps to see the full sales cycle

Cons

Lack of marketing and branch recognition reduces the sales representatives to be glorified door to door salesman in order to generate leads. No incoming leads from outgoing campaigns Extremely high turnover

Pros

It is a good job to build your resume, but it comes with a lot of BS. My main problem is the lack of compensation.

Cons

You are given a low base salary (30K), including travel expense, and are expected to travel all over for low pay. The only way to make money is to build margin into your deals, which is truely only possible if you have a current customer to work with. In order to gain ZBA business, a large margin of the time you have to be negative on your deal to be competetive (typically 4-5 Vendors) . You work your but off to close deals, then deal with Ricoh's problems (delivering broken equipment, two month equipment delivery time, techs that can't network copiers to IT infrastructures) to be compensationed about $200 dollars for every 10k closed. THATS Terrible!!! All the while, you are constantly fighting with Ricoh order processing to process the order (typically 20 - 60 pages depending on the order, which you do). On top of that you deal with managers always trying to close business, when you can't even get your orders delivered for that month. Don't do it, plus they fire anyone not performing very quickly. They actually fired many good people that were doing great at there jobs back in novemeber..... FINAL NOTE: The copier industry has become commidotized. It will be gone in several years, at least on the Small to medium business level. Ricoh's focus will be on IT services they can't deliver and copiers to large enterprises.
