promising opportunities but don't expect them to deliver
Pros
Great customers...super easy upsales...great discount
Cons
if ur gm is young, watch out for them not holding anyone accoutable, With the company focus changing to driving sales instead of merchandising, any seasoned associate or manager without sales talent will do anything to avoid the customer. I was the selling manager for men's and home and was horribly abused by my associates for upselling at the cash wrap, engaging in casual conversation with customers, I was accused of using the customer to avoid folding or rearranging my floor and worst of all I was actually called a racist behind my back for providing exceptional customer service to a group of individuals who were stealing. I was made the HR manager's bench before she left.did the job for free for 5 months, told I had the position only to have another GM's daughter's best friend get it (who interviewed on my vacation). Then I was asked to train her. I did, because I still loved the job...until, payroll got cut and the salaried employees would not stay past their shift or come in on their multiple weekends off to help when there would be 1 manager and 1 associate to cover the whole floor To top it all off, the new HR manager worked for 1 1/2 months with 4 weekends off and at least a Saturday or Sunday the other weekends. Not to mention no closing shifts I could have still put up with it again because I love the brand, but no accountability was administered to those who even walked away from customers as they entered the store spouting the new company focus was stupid. From what I can tell, all other stores are customer and sales focused and expect all employees to perform. At least the minimum required by the company! If this is the case, I would recommend employment for everyone.
