Unreasonably PiP me

Pros

- team building game - kfc every month

Cons

I was being unreasonably PIP by them after working more than 5 years with them, one day they just suddenly told me i was slow in delivering and they will put me in PIP, like seriously, after 5 years? Why? i think this is the reason, because i was very diligently taking part in my professional exam and eventually got more and more increment year by year, they are not happy that they have to pay me more but i am still doing the scope for 1 person (tbh with all the OT, i already deliver the scope more than 1 pax), so they find funny excuse to get rid of me. Guess what, i eventually gotten an offer from competitor's company, and when they asked Prudential about my work performance, Prudential told them i am in PiP, I was like … why…what benefit can Pru get by sabotaging my future? After 2 years, i finally realize, this might be the reason, if i didn't get to join the competitor's company, Pru will threaten me in order for me to keep my job in Pru, i hv to take a paycut, then they can have a cheap slave to continue working for them. It all make sense to me now... I might be wrong, but i think it's worth sharing my journey to anyone who come across similar incident like me, just know that you are not alone, and never feel inferior about yourself, corporate culture can be unimaginably toxic, you will soar in a environment that suit you, nvr give up!

Used to Be Great

Pros

Competitive pay and benefits. Generally work with good, smart people.

Cons

This company used to be amazing to work for. Years of focusing on expenses and layoffs have led to bad morale. A hiring freeze after cutting teams down to fractions of their former sizes leads to heavy workloads and mistakes. No room for advancement. No job openings for movement or growth. Now a 3 day a week mandatory RTO with consequences for not complying, after all of the above, sends morale even lower. This has become a depressing place to work.

Great company on the decline

Pros

Prudential offers a healthy work-life balance.

Cons

Prudential is highly political with far more emphasis placed on who you know rather than what you know or what you produce. Senior leadership lacks vision for the company. As a result, it is rapidly declining. Lack of accountability for leaders. Company doesn't publish nor hold executives accountable for outcomes. As a result, the environment is highly political due to a lack of objective performance criteria. Further, leaders simply kick the can down the road year after year. But as long as you've been there for decades and have a network, it is ok.
