Pros

Work is self-directed.Hard work should pay off if you have a large natural market to sell your products and services to.

Cons

The job of insurance salesperson is a complete drag and seems to be outdated. The job requires that you set meetings with potential clients and then drive all over creation to meet them and discuss their insurance and financial needs. 80% of the time they cancel on you. Unless you live at home with your parents or have a spouse that can support you financially for the first few years, don't even bother. As I mentioned above, if you don't have a strong natural market (friends and family that you WILL be asked to sell to), you will be severely challenged. I also found the training to be completely inadequate- even among management- and frequently found management to be providing false information or ignorant of basic insurance concepts. Bottom line *(in my experience) you will work your nuts off for minimal pay. Sure the job has a flexible schedule, but you have to work a lot to get low to average pay, especially in the first few years. Unless you have the support networks that I mentioned above, I would strongly caution against working as an FPA at Prudential

Thank you for your comments. As you know, a career in financial services can be very challenging yet also rewarding. While it sounds as if the Financial Professional Associate opportunity may not have been a good fit for you, we wish you well in your career path.

Pros

Company really is focused on talent. They really do promote talent mobility here. You can definitely move around here and try new things.

Cons

There is a ton of fat to trim here. Overlapping roles creates chaos for employees. Lots of people creating process and hoops to justify their jobs

Pros

Great company that strives for equality and fairness. The benefit package is amazing. Employees are able to make their own schedule. Prudential supplies advisors with leads and helps to make advisors successful.

Cons

The pay can be inconsistent. It takes awhile to create a reliable revenue stream.
