Pros

• Fly you out for onboarding in Barcelona. •Some of the colleagues I met when I began my TK journey were incredibly supportive in and out of work. •Kay is a wonderful person

Cons

This job has been the worst experience of my working career! The culture that is raved about in Barcelona isn't upheld in the Birmingham office. TravelPerk UK is a completely different organisation that abides by the toxic corporate structure that tech companies hate. There are unattainable targets for QA and an unmanageable amount of systems to learn. There's a lack of appriceation for the CC agents, and what they do for the opperation of the business. Management and Team Leaders only care if you blindly defend their toxic decisions and the company. You will have a tolerable experience if you moisten the behinds of the Team Leaders and Management (Buy them McDonald’s and pick them up from the airport). If you complain about something valid, expect the Team Leaders pets to report back to them. The favouritism is apparent, and the pets get away with anything (bullying and extra untimed smoke breaks with the Team Leaders). The BHX hub is ClickTravel, NOT TravelPerk. From the begining, Management, HR and Trainers have a vague idea of how to do their jobs. When TravelPerk merged with ClickTravel, they clealy didnt think to test the competency of their employees when promoting them to different departments. The running of BHX is a horrorshow, and they will only blame and label you as trouble. All of the management are in cahoots and will do anything to twist the narrative to get you fired. If you have a voice and refuse to comply with a toxic environment, then DON’T work here. If you’re a robot and can live off basic pay then this is the place for you.

Thank you for your feedback. We greatly value the voice of our employees and engagement surveys held biannually are an important part of how we continuously improve at TravelPerk. Employee input directly shapes the experience. In addition to engagement surveys, annual performance reviews capture feedback about our leaders. The process includes direct action reflected in development plans for all employees including managers. Customer Care is paramount to how TravelPerk differentiates to address our clients’ needs at any stage of travel and is by far our largest people investment. TravelPerk is proud to have joined forces in 2021 with Click Travel, the leading UK domestic business travel company and together we are cultivating a winning team. We appreciate the time you have taken to share and are working with our teams in Birmingham to address your comments.

Pros

All employees get flown to Barcelona a few times a year, huge parties are thrown at great expense (the expense being your low salary). There are many very talented engineers here to learn from

Cons

There is a cult-like feel to the place. The CEO's public political views on the ongoing Middle East conflict, created a divisive and uncomfortable atmosphere. Pay is poor relative to the industry, infrequent promotion opportunities. London employees are expected to go to the office 3 times a week, but teams are split across locations so you will often not work with most people in the office

Pros

A shiny mission makes it easy to be excited (at first). Good PTO. Some genuinely talented and kind colleagues.

Cons

TravelPerk sells itself as a tech-forward; people first industry disruptor—but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Behind the scenes, employees are stuck using clunky & outdated systems. U.S staff are constantly battling with those in the Barcelona HQ, who clearly don’t understand (or value) the American market. It’s a Europe-first company; the U.S is just a revenue stream. Pay? Abysmal. Base salaries are below industry standard, no matter what leadership claims, and commissions are a moving target. Base salary raises are rare and easily blocked by vague “low performance” labels. Someone in the c-suite was recently overheard saying U.S. employees are overpaid. This is a tone deaf comment that perfectly captures their lack of awareness around cost of living in the U.S Management is a poor. Most are underqualified and play favorites. Directors managing their own small groups within teams creates bias, internal conflict, and performance reviews that are anything but fair. HR is under-resourced. There aren’t enough reps to support the U.S team. Discrimination issues go unaddressed. Family planning support & resources are weak. Health & lifestyle benefits are subpar. And pay equity? Nonexistent. Actual travel perks? No. One annual trip to Barcelona loses its charm after year two. Forget meaningful industry discounts or travel benefits as they don’t exist. You’ll see fluffy posts on LinkedIn painting TravelPerk as a value driven, people first company. But not all that glitters is gold. Behind the scenes is a culture riddled with favoritism, dysfunction and performative values that don’t hold up under scrutiny.
