Pros

Good company with strong vision and purposeful goals for its customers/end-users. Some of the best qualified, smart and dedicated people I've had the pleasure of working with locally and globally; there was no one NO ONE, I worked with within the core functions of producing, marketing and selling content that wasn't committed to doing the best they could do and help others do the best they could do. First class product either in traditional formats, digital formats or service delivery.

Cons

Very 'closed-shop' attitude by upper and senior management 'C-suite' to listening to what the customer truely wanted. Upper and senior management were more interested in 'managing up' and managing their own careers within the 'inner circle' than paying much attention to the feedback given by staff, industry leaders and the paying customer. Many opportunities were missed completely as this attitude of telling the customer what they are getting bore fruit. For the level of commitment, experience required and accountability to increasingly unrealistic goals, the pay was very average and the 'bonus' unobtainable.

Pros

Great benefits, schedule flexibility, most people can work remotely part of the week; Many great people who are smart, creative, and work as a team.

Cons

Low salary, ever-increasing workload, company has been going through change and multiple restructurings/layoffs for 4 years, job insecurity, outsourcing as many jobs as possible.

Pros

There is some working from home and schedule flexibility. There are still some really bright developers here. The Denver work location is nice.

Cons

For anyone considering a job with Pearson in the USA, beware. They are aggressively off shoring jobs and converting their entire workforce to contract workers. There is a never ending stream of bad news anymore and a flood of talent leaving the company. A new employee will be thrown right in with no training and very little useful documentation to help them get started. Then not long after starting the fear mindset will be instilled. Most of the people left have been brow beaten into almost non-human creatures. It is sad to witness people reduced to such misery. If you are considering taking a job with Pearson realize up front that it will probably be short term and degrading, so have an exit strategy going in.
